Hello 👋
I’m Jim Sowers, a full-stack engineer with 20 years of experience leveraging communication and technology to solve business problems. I have a proven ability to lead teams tackling complex challenges across diverse industries, from enhancing federal banking systems to streamlining licensing and continuing education platforms.
As a proud facilitator for Girls Who Code, I introduce coding and leadership principles to young girls, fostering their enthusiasm for technology and hopefully inspiring future STEM leaders. This role rekindles the magic I experienced coding text games on a VIC-20 as a kid and fuels my drive to empower others through education and mentorship.
When I’m not coding or teaching, you’ll find me in my workshop/forge dabbling in woodwork and blacksmithing. These hobbies are my creative outlet and they teach me patience and attention to detail—skills that come in handy when coding too.
My current focus is working on implementing AI in ways that make sense for real world business with a focus on keeping data secure and private.
Specialties: Talking to Humans, Retrieval Augmented Generation, .NET Development, test driven development, Kanban agile software development, mentoring junior developers.
If you’re interested in learning more about my work or discussing potential opportunities, feel free to reach out at jim@jimsowers.com.
