About

Hello 👋

I’m Jim Sowers, an accomplished full-stack engineer with over 20 years of experience leveraging communication and technology to drive business solutions. I have a proven ability to lead teams tackling complex challenges across diverse industries, from enhancing federal banking systems to streamlining licensing and continuing education platforms.

As a proud facilitator for Girls Who Code, I introduce coding and leadership principles to young girls, fostering their enthusiasm for technology and hopefully inspiring future STEM leaders. This role rekindles the magic I experienced coding text games on a VIC-20 as a kid and fuels my drive to empower others through education and mentorship.

When I’m not coding or teaching, you’ll find me in my workshop/forge dabbling in woodwork and blacksmithing. These hobbies are my creative outlet and they teach me patience and attention to detail—skills that come in handy when coding too.

For the past several years, I have been focused on Microsoft technologies, ASP.NET MVC websites written in C# with a SQL Server on the back end but I am familiar with much more – going back to mainframe BASIC.

Specialties: .NET Development, test driven development, Kanban agile software development, mentoring junior developers, meeting with users to understand their needs

If you’re interested in learning more about my work or discussing potential opportunities, feel free to reach out at jim@jimsowers.com.
